On July 16th, the 2024 Automobile Logistics Development Conference, jointly hosted by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing and Shandong Port Group, was held in Yantai. At the meeting, the Comprehensive Evaluation Report of World Class Ports (2024) was released.
The "Comprehensive Evaluation Report of World Class Ports (2024)" was jointly researched and released by the China Economic Information Society and the Water Transport Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport. The Yantai Port commodity vehicle roll on/roll off terminal, as a typical case of a world-class specialized terminal, was released in the report. Its intelligent, efficient, green and low-carbon terminal highlights were unanimously praised by the attending guests. This is also the second typical case of Yantai Port selected as a world-class specialized terminal after last year's "West Port Area Supply Chain Hub Bauxite Terminal".
Since its establishment, Shandong Port has adhered to coordinated development, collaborative development, and characteristic development, fully supporting Yantai Port in building a commodity vehicle logistics hub port and providing efficient and convenient supply chain comprehensive services for customers. In the first half of this year, Yantai Port completed a full mode freight volume of 367000 commercial vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 40.5%, continuing to maintain a double-digit growth momentum. In the past five years, Yantai Port's commercial vehicle business has achieved leapfrog development, with foreign trade volume and international transit volume consistently ranking among the top in the country. The report also mentioned that Yantai Port seizes the opportunity of increasing demand for new energy vehicle trade, continuously improves infrastructure, creates smart roll on/roll off and green low-carbon terminals, assists in the construction of zero carbon ports, innovates the "port+" service model, unblocks the international logistics channel for commercial vehicles, and actively builds a global model for commercial vehicle roll on/roll off terminals.
Lead and accelerate, then take advantage of the situation to speed up again. At the meeting, the "Yantai Port Construction of North China Used Car Distribution Base" project was launched, injecting strong momentum into Yantai Port's continued leading commercial vehicle roll on/roll off business. Shandong Port will take the project launch as an opportunity to accelerate the construction of a second-hand car distribution base, focusing on building a comprehensive service platform that integrates trading, maintenance, certification, finance, logistics, and other functions, helping the automotive industry transform and upgrade, and working together with partners to create a new blue ocean for the development of China's second-hand car industry.
In his speech, Li Jintao, Deputy Mayor of Yantai City, stated that Yantai City will take the construction of port type national logistics hub and Yantai Port commodity vehicle logistics hub port as opportunities, and the high-quality development of port and shipping service industry as the starting point, further support the optimization of port function layout, support the accelerated development of Yantai's automobile and vehicle logistics industry, and provide comprehensive policy support and first-class business environment to safeguard the industry's growth and strength.
